I have to thank my wife for finding this site the other night when she was Googling for some Excel tutorials. It’s done by the Goodwill Community Foundation and it not only has tutorials on tech topics like Excel, Gmail, and Internet Safety, but they also cover a range of topics involved with job searching, personal finance, health, etc.
It might be worth keeping it handy for yourself, or to help with anyone you know who could use the help.

I was part of a conversation at work recently about giving good presentations, and the art of telling a story was a big part of the discussion. Stories matter. Whether giving a presentation, pitching a new idea, making a sale, or training customers, the story brings people along to what we’re trying to tell them. The story puts everything in context. When I’m training, it’s the stories about how we used that technology to make things easier or what happened when we failed to properly use the technology that helps people understand the “why.”.
But in other areas of life, that’s not at all how the game works. War, business, education, etc. are not finite games. It’s not clear who all of the competitors are, the rules change and there’s no one “score” that everyone has agreed upon. Maybe most importantly, it doesn’t end at the allocated time, it goes on and on with some of the competitors giving up over time and dropping out of the game.
The problem Simon identifies is that when the game is infinite, but you play it as if it were finite, you end up in a quagmire.
