RIAA and tech companies in agreement?

Heard this first on CNN last night, but they had no details at all. Went looking for it online this morning and found this link. It seems the RIAA agreed to stop trying to get the government to force tech companies to install anti-copying stuff on every piece of hadware, but the tech companies agreed to stop trying to get the government to guarantee a person’s right to make backup copies, or transfer music to portable players.

Sounds like a win for both of them and a loss for consumers, eh?
