You gotta love it..

Someone, who shall remain nameless but who is related to me, (although not in my immediate family) forwarded me one of those chain letter email thingies. Not a big deal, she’s been known to do this from time to time, but in this case, she didn’t take out any of the previous forwarding information. This email gave me names and email addresses of at least 50 people who I don’t even know. If I was a little less scrupulous I might have been tempted to use those addresses, say to promote my site, or the Amazon links, or something worse…

Alas, I’m not that mean, but it’s something we all need to remember about forwarding email messages. Take out all that contact information!

A few thoughts on what some others are saying.. Mike Chandler has some interesting stuff on advertising on blogs. I think some small advertising isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I go to a lot of blogs that have the little text ads and they don’t bother me at all. The real problem comes in when…

The latest issue of WinXPnews points to a fairly interesting little tool that I had not seen before, the Netcraft Anti-phishing toolbar. It apparently gives you the hosting location of the site you’re on and lets you easily report phishing sites. Anyone been using this and have any feedback on how well it works? I…

  • Linked – The 1 Major Skill That Most Employees Say Their Bosses Lack

Every poor manager I’ve ever dealt with has been a poor communicator. Almost every shortcoming or problem I’ve seen people have with a manager or coworker could be filed under a problem with communication. It’s THE thing in the workplace. Ideas, expectations, priorities, and everything else in the workplace come down to the ability to communicate. If you cannot communicate clearly, you are lost, and the people who work for you or lost.

Yet how many organizations promote the top performer or their most senior individual contributor without ever considering whether they are good communicators? And how many prioritize teaching them how to communicate as managers?
