Afternoon

That re-application of NT Service Pack 6 seems to have done the trick on that PC. I even managed to get that mini-cd out of there and the CD drive put back together again without damaging the drive, which I wasn’t feeling too confident about going in, I must admit.

I have the printers and power cords/strips packed and ready to go for tomorrow, and all that is missing are the files that need to be loaded onto both laptops, which our event planner will still be working on tonight so I already planned on not having them until tomorrow morning, so it’s all good.

Tomorrow I revisit my former job of delivery driver as I will be spending most of the day driving people and supplies back and forth between our office building and the event location. It’s only 3 blocks away but because of downtown traffic and one-way streets, it tends to get a lot more complicated than you might think!

I doubt I’ll get to much blogging, but you never know! 🙂

Scoble’s got a link and some of his own comments on Orkut. I pretty much agree, I didn’t find myself going over there much after the first few days. There simply wasn’t enough to hold my interest, even in the communities, which is maybe the best part of Orkut. The problem there is that those…

  • Make That a Good Tech

I was catching up on some podcasts today, and came across an episode on Career Opportunities that was “pulled from the archives”. In A Tech in Every Meeting, Douglas calls for organizations to include a high-tech worker to be present at creative meetings. This would eliminate the need for your IT workers to come back…

  • Another entry?

Dan wrote to tell me about another possible entry into the Freeware News Aggregator Comparison. It’s called Free Reader. Alas, the review will be slightly delayed because said program does not appear to have any options to tell it to connect using a firewall and proxy. So I’ll have to wait until I have some…

  • Linked – How to repair a trust problem

She mentions a round of layoffs as an example of breaking trust, and I’m glad she included that. All too often, when a round of layoffs occurs, senior management will return to talking about the culture or set of core values they expect all employees to follow without ever acknowledging that it’s different now. You can’t just return to talking about the importance of teamwork and diversity when you just canned 10% of the team as if nothing happened.
