Remembering

Ground Zero, 4 plus years later.

I was trying to think of the best way to mark the 5 year anniversary of 9/11 today when I realized that my feelings about this particular day, and the need to remember the events of 5 years ago, haven’t changed since I posted about being at Ground Zero back in June.

I took a brief moment today to acknowledge the anniversary in my thoughts, but I didn’t need that to be reminded. I’m constantly reminded every time I see the skyline that isn’t the same skyline I grew up seeing everyday, or watch our wedding video from 11 days after that, remembering the people who canceled plans to travel to our wedding, and the candle we had lit in remembrance of the victims of that day.

Even without all the hype and media attention paid to the fifth anniversary, I’ll never forget that day, nor do I have any desire to forget it.

Apparently, going places that are a bit off the beaten path pays off when the folks from Schmap go looking for photos to illustrate their travel guides. Shooting at the Beach

A couple of observations about shooting at the beach over the Christmas weekend: 1. Off-season is a great time to photograph a beach. It is much easier to get landscape and seabird shots when they are only a handful of people within sight of you along the beach. 2. On the other hand, the lack…

  • History Lessons

We spent the weekend visiting with Angela’s parents, but also got to spend quite a bit of time getting history lessons. On Saturday, despite the 90 plus degree heat, I spent part of the afternoon watching a Civil War skirmish re-enactment. (Yeah, I have the sunburn to show for it.) It was quite fascinating to…

    Funny Story

So Angela was working a pre-game event on campus today, and one of her bosses had asked me to come along and take photos for their event. Since they allow me to attend for free, and feed me, well, how could I refuse? BTW, the campus area was as crazy as you’d expect it to…
