Remembering

Ground Zero, 4 plus years later.

I was trying to think of the best way to mark the 5 year anniversary of 9/11 today when I realized that my feelings about this particular day, and the need to remember the events of 5 years ago, haven’t changed since I posted about being at Ground Zero back in June.

I took a brief moment today to acknowledge the anniversary in my thoughts, but I didn’t need that to be reminded. I’m constantly reminded every time I see the skyline that isn’t the same skyline I grew up seeing everyday, or watch our wedding video from 11 days after that, remembering the people who canceled plans to travel to our wedding, and the candle we had lit in remembrance of the victims of that day.

Even without all the hype and media attention paid to the fifth anniversary, I’ll never forget that day, nor do I have any desire to forget it.
