I noticed a while ago that a new association was starting up, the Association of Litigation Support Professionals, and I had made a note to keep an eye on that. Today, I did a bit more. I had talked to some people at the firm about it, and the response was very much “wait and see” which I can understand. We already pay membership fees to ILTA, and various other places, so why pay for something we don’t know much about.

I noticed, however, that they are offering an introductory individual membership for only $25, so I took the plunge and signed up as an individual today. I figure there’s no better way to judge the value of the association than to be in it. So, we’ll see how it goes.

Any other ALSP members out there? I’ll be curious to see what benefit I get professionally from being a member, that will determine whether I stay a member past this introductory period.
