With the move of the consumer version of Google Drive to Backup and Sync, Google is going to make it easier for Mac and Windows users to automatically sync anything from their PC to Google, without having to move it to the Google Drive folder first.
The cynic in me can’t help but notice that having more “stuff” stored in Google’s Backup and Sync will also make it easier to go over the 15GB storage that a free account gets you. I wonder how much Google projects for revenue from people who wind up upgrading in order to take advantage of the new ability to have Google backup their important data and photos?
Then again, online backup is an important part of a good backup plan, so if Google wants to make it easier for folks to do that, I can’t really be against it can I?
