Worth Reading – Rest Is Part of the Work: Why Recovery Can’t Be Something We Earn

I wish we could have this conversation as often as we have to hear about hustle culture or the habits of billionaires.

The human body and brain work best when rest and recovery are part of the schedule. It really is that simple. When we constantly try to “earn” the right to rest, we do a disservice to ourselves. It is part of us.

Don’t let the demands of your career tell you otherwise, and if you manage people, make sure they have the time to recover from the stress of the working world. Otherwise, you won’t get their best. Not because they don’t care, but because their best left town when rest wasn’t available.
