    One way that I can see this being helpful that wouldn’t require much effort at all is to have a group of people who have been in touch with your EAP and navigated the maze that it can be, available to talk with other employees and assist them with that process. That can be the simplest, and yet most effective, way to start peer-to-peer support. There is much more that can be offered but if you’re struggling to know where to start, that can be one option.

    However, to even get there we need to stop the secrecy, shame, and stigma surrounding mental health.

    It’s easy, though incorrect, to dismiss worrying about hacking on the basis that “I have nothing to hide” so if someone gets our information, it’s not that big of a deal. And, in fact, someone getting your credit card information might not really end up being that big of a deal to you when it’s the credit card company that has to do all the hard work to fix it. For a consumer, it might just be some inconvenience. But the real danger to me has always been the risk of someone manipulating your data and causing issues. Imagine someone hacking the DMV and marking you as someone whose driver’s license has been suspended, or hacking your phone’s GPS, indicating you were somewhere you were not.

    have often been on record as saying that leading a remote team requires over-communication. You simply cannot assume information is being shared or understood if you don’t actively communicate it yourself.

    The same goes for tooting your own horn. You simply cannot assume that people you haven’t communicated with directly about your contributions are going to know about them. We like to think that compliments and acknowledgments go beyond the immediate conversations we are having but we can’t assume that.

    It can be very easy to lose sight of this on Social Media but it can also be easy to lose sight of this in the workplace or in our own careers as well. When we reward certain measurements people respond by doing more of that thing. This makes sense if your goal is to simply attract more attention to yourself. For social media maybe that is your goal. If you are representing a brand on social media, yeah that is probably what you want. However, as an individual, I think you have to ask yourself if getting more eyeballs this way causes you to actually undermine your own goals.
