Some good advice

Quoted from a post at the Office Weblog concerning that study about home users and the lack of internet security tools in use.

Something to think about as we head into the holiday season and you’re spending time with family and friends. Heck maybe you can make it their gift. 🙂

Linked: The Future of Remote Work is the Opposite of Lonely

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there scaring people into thinking that if they don’t get back to the office, they’ll have a very lonely life with no friends. After all, most adults make most of their friends in the workplace nowadays. I know I’ve made plenty myself. But, part of that is because we spend so much time in the office, and nowhere else, that we struggle to maintain any relationships outside of work.

Who has time? Between our 9-10 work day, another hour commuting, and all the extra work we do at night and on weekends, what time are we going to spend with other people?

It doesn’t have to be that way though. Many of us can get our work done from elsewhere, and spend more time in a location that is more conducive to keeping in touch with our friends. I don’t know how, or why, but immediately after restarting I opened up IE and what sounded like a mangled .wav file played for about 30 seconds, then stopped. But no other sounds will play because the sound device…

  • The agenda

Things have been so busy with work stuff, social events, and unplanned website issues that a number of half-finished projects are sitting around waiting for me to get to. I hate when that happens. I get stressed when I have projects that are unfinished. So, starting tomorrow (tonight’s the Dave Matthews concert) I’m going to…

Here’s why the copyright police are dangerous, not because they want to protect copyright, but because they want to protect copyright above any other right. So you wind up with situations like this. An innocent home movie of someone’s cats get’s red-flagged and deleted by a hosting company because they think it might be copyrighted…
