Trying to Game Google and Facebook Truth Algorithms

I’ve been suspicious of Twitter and Facebook’s attempts at letting users decide what is “true” and hiding the posts that get voted down, let alone Google’s suggestion that they will start doing something similar with search results.

My fear is simply that a large group will target things they happen to not agree with to silence their opponents online.

You know, sort of like Putin having a team of people getting paid to simply push Russian interests on social networks.

Do you really think Putin, China, ISIS, etc. aren’t capable of doing this? Just by asking users to help you identify falsehoods, you’re inviting any group with an agenda to use that tool to influence what information is available to the public. I don’t think that’s a good idea.
