Quick Thought – Link Requests

So, I’ve seen a recent uptick in the number of emails I get stating that my post “XX” was great, and they think I should also link their related post.

1. 85-90% of the time, their post isn’t actually related.
2. 100% of the time, they’ve never linked to, or shared, anything I’ve written.

So why should I even read your pitch? Aside from getting fodder for this post.

Speaking of which, to prep for this post, I also started monitoring my junk mail in Gmail to see just how many pitches I don’t see, and well it’s at least 50-60% of the total. Which begs the question, if you can’t write a pitch that gets past a spam filter, why is anyone paying you to do this? You clearly suck at it.
