Linked: The Power of Simple Communication: Why Plain Language Is Better Than Complex Jargon

This is an important thing to remember:

“One of the major problems with complex jargon is that it makes the listener or reader feel isolated, like they “don’t belong” in the conversation. So they walk away feeling less interested and less knowledgeable on the subject.”

If the effects of your communication is someone feeling less interested and less knowledgeable, you’re doing it wrong. In so many ways. You’re leaving people less than you found them instead of helping.

Stop with the jargon. Prove how well you know something by being able to explain it without the jargon, and leave people who hear you better off for having heard you.
