Linked – Why you shouldn’t unlock your phone with your face

You know, it occurs to me that while Apple made it tougher for someone to get into your data through a phone backup, they made it super easy for law enforcement to unlock a phone, didn’t they?

And in many countries—including the US—the police can legally force you to use your fingerprint to unlock your phone. So they can most certainly point your phone at your face and unlock it against your will.

If you value the security of your data—your email, social media accounts, family photos, the history of every place you’ve ever been with your phone—then I recommend against using biometric identification.

Instead, use a passcode to unlock your phone.

    WordPress Hack

A couple of years ago, I suffered through the clean up of a bad wordpress hack, mostly as a result of leaving an old install without updates, and having it cross over to my main blog. Because of that, I keep a pretty good eye on things around here when I have the time, just…

Last night, as I was surfing around online, suddenly my internet connection went kaput. As usual when that happens I swung around to look at the various pieces of equipment in our office to see which one had orange lights, or was missing some lights. Modem looked ok, Hawking router looked ok, swung around to…

So I’ve moved on from the Wiki on thumb drive solution for my to-do lists. The first place I’m giving a try-out to is Google Notebook. So far, so good. I don’t really like the fact that I can’t link different sections together through hyperlinks, like I could with the Wiki, but that is somewhat…
